Job summary

Lutheran Social Services of South Dakota is hiring a part-time Family Development Specialist to help foster and adoptive families navigate licensing, home studies, and required resources. You will partner with families to complete assessments and provide ongoing support.

This remote/community-based role serves multiple SD communities within 20 miles of listed locations. Regular travel is required with mileage reimbursement.

Qualifications

• Candidates must possess or be eligible to obtain licensure as a Social Worker or Social Work Associate through the South Dakota Board of Social Work Examiners.
• Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field, plus one to two years related experience is required.
• Licensed Social Worker or Licensed Social Work Associate through the South Dakota Board of Social Work Examiners is preferred.
• Must be at least 21 years of age and successfully complete all agency background checks; requires active auto-insurance and a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Assist families in navigating the process to become a foster or adoptive resource.
• Complete home study assessments for prospective foster and kinship families pursuing licensing and adoption.
• Partner with families to complete the home study process and provide resources and support throughout.
• Collaborate with the Licensing Team and South Dakota DSS/CPS.
