Job summary

Lutheran Social Services of South Dakota is hiring a Family Development Specialist for remote/community-based work within South Dakota. The role is part-time (0-29 hours) with occasional evenings and weekends. Salary ranges from $24.00 to $25.96 per hour and includes a $300 sign-on bonus for external candidates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field required.
• Licensure as Social Worker or Social Work Associate preferred; licensure process guidance provided by LSS.
• Must be at least 21 years old and pass agency background checks.
• Requires active auto-insurance and a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain one with approved driver status.

Responsibilities

• Assist families in navigating the process to become a foster or adoptive resource.
• Complete home study assessments for prospective foster and kinship families pursuing licensing and adoption.
• Partner with families to complete home study process and provide resources and support.
• Work collaboratively with South Dakota DSS/CPS as part of Licensing Team.
