Job summary

Georgia Department of Public Health is recruiting a Part-Time, Hourly Nutritionist 1-3 for the District 4 WIC Program serving Henry & Butts Counties. The role supports the Henry County WIC & Nutrition Center in McDonough, GA, with remote work option and on-site training as needed.

Responsibilities include nutrition assessment, education, and counseling, collaborating with nurses and other health providers. 100% remote eligibility requires prior GA WIC experience; position is essential for public

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in dietetics, human nutrition, foods and nutrition, nutrition education, food systems management, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university and verification statement of completion of a didactic program accredited by The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
• Nutritionist 2 requires two years of job-related experience providing nutrition care to groups and individuals, or two years of experience at Nutritionist 1 level.
• Nutritionist 3 requires three years of job-related experience providing nutrition care to groups and individuals, or two years at Nutritionist 2 level.

Responsibilities

• Assesses nutritional needs, diet restrictions and current health plans to develop and implement dietary-care plans and provide nutritional counseling.
• Consults with physicians and health care personnel to determine nutritional needs and diet restrictions of client.
• Advises clients and families on nutritional principles, dietary plans and food selection and preparation.
• Counsels individuals and groups on basic rules of good nutrition and healthy eating habits.
• Develops policies for food service or nutritional programs to promote health.
• Develops curriculum and prepares manuals and teaching materials.
• Plans and evaluates strategies for promoting breastfeeding.
