Karat in the United States is seeking an External Communications Lead to join our remote, part-time team (20 hours/week) reporting to the CEO. This role overlaps with executives in the Greater Seattle Area to align messaging and timing.

You will own Karat’s external voice—shaping strategy, managing media, and guiding thought leadership across campaigns, press, podcasts, and bylines. Ghostwrite keynote content and craft talking points, while coordinating our PR agency for outcomes.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of communications experience spanning PR, media relations, and executive communications.
• Proven track record securing earned media for senior leaders.
• Experience ghostwriting for executives with strong storytelling instincts.
• History of developing narratives and campaigns for target audiences.
• Experience managing PR agency partners to measurable outcomes.
• Comfort coaching executives for media interviews, external events, and employee-facing meetings.
• Self-starting, proactive approach with ability to operate independently across parallel workstreams.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the CEO's trusted communications advisor, shaping strategy and channel decisions across the company.
• Own Karat's media presence end to end, securing press, podcast, and broadcast coverage as the single point of contact.
• Architect campaigns that place Karat's thought leadership and product milestones in front of the industry and customers.
• Build the CEO's public platform—from LinkedIn to the company blog to third-party bylines.
• Ghostwrite talking points, bylines, keynote content, and media/speaking prep for the CEO.
• Set the CEO's speaking strategy and select stages that maximize impact.
• Lead our PR agency, ensuring outcomes and accountability over activity.
