Job summary

Federal Public Defender for the Western District of Pennsylvania seeks a Paralegal for a federally capital case. The role is fully remote and open to full-time or part-time engagement, with a term appointment for the case duration.

The Paralegal will manage discovery, organize case files, and support trial preparation. Prior federal capital trial experience is highly valued and expertise with large-volume discovery and e-discovery platforms is preferred.

Qualifications

• Prior federal capital trial experience preferred.
• Experience managing large-volume discovery and e-discovery platforms.
• Ability to organize and maintain voluminous discovery materials and work product.

Responsibilities

• Manage the documentary side of a federal death-penalty prosecution.
• Organize and maintain discovery, records, and work product.
• Build and administer the team's document-review and case-management databases.
• Cite-check and finalize pleadings; prepare exhibits and trial materials.
• Track court deadlines and filings.
• Assist attorneys and investigators with legal research and with collection/organization of social history and other records.
• Coordinate contact with clients, experts, and witnesses.
