Perdue Foods seeks a senior Packaging Engineering Technical Manager to act as the organization’s packaging SME. You will lead complex packaging initiatives supporting commercialization, manufacturing performance, and business growth, partnering with Operations, R&D, Quality, Supply Chain, and suppliers.

This remote role is oriented for East Coast residents with up to 75% travel. The role emphasizes strategic and hands-on leadership, mentoring technical talent, and delivering innovative packaging

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of progressive packaging engineering experience in CPG or related manufacturing industries.
• Expertise in packaging design, qualification, commercialization, DFMEA/PFMEA, design verification, validation, and manufacturing support.
• Experience developing engineering standards, validation protocols, qualification methodologies, engineering specifications, and technical documentation.
• Strong knowledge of statistical methods, DOE, process capability analysis, MSA, and data-driven decisions.
• Experience supporting manufacturing operations, packaging equipment, materials qualification, supplier collaboration, and commercialization activities.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical authority for packaging systems, materials, and performance.
• Establish enterprise packaging standards, design guidelines, and governance for engineering rigor.
• Lead DFMEA/PFMEA, design reviews, risk assessments, and engineering evaluations for packaging changes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop packaging specs, validation strategies, and testing protocols.
• Evaluate new materials, technologies, and suppliers to improve packaging performance and sustainability.
• Lead commercialization of high-risk packaging initiatives through verification, qualification, plant trials, and production startup.
