Job summary

The MRT coder applies ICD, CPT, and HCPCS knowledge and ensures accurate, compliant coding across the full range of hospital services. This position emphasizes data abstraction, quality documentation, and adherence to VA-specific VERA guidelines.

Qualifications

• Ability to analyze health records to identify diagnoses and procedures for coding.
• Ability to perform outpatient coding including ambulatory surgeries, diagnostics, and encounters.
• Knowledge of coding guidelines and VERA program classifications.

Responsibilities

• Assign codes for the full range of care documented in health records.
• Select codes from ICD, CPT, HCPCS with proper sequencing.
