Job summary

Cape Cod Hospital is seeking a skilled outpatient coder to assign and validate diagnoses and procedures for hospital reimbursement. You will review documentation, apply guidelines, and ensure accurate charges and modifiers for oncology, infusion, outpatient surgery, and observation encounters.

Qualification includes active CCS, CPC, RHIT, or COC certifications and at least 1 year of acute care hospital coding experience.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
• Active professional certifications CCS (AHIMA), CPC (AAPC), RHIT (AHIMA), or COC (AAPC).
• Proven understanding of coding guidelines and reimbursement impacts.
• At least 1 year of acute care hospital coding experience for complex outpatient encounters.

Responsibilities

• Assigns, analyzes, sequences and validates codes from documentation.
• Ensure coding accuracy to support hospital reimbursement.
• Query physicians to obtain clarification and additional documentation when needed.
• Maintain productivity and accuracy benchmarks, and support department education.
