Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking an Outpatient Coding Compliance Auditor to join Optum’s team. This remote role audits outpatient facility coding, analyzes documentation, and ensures adherence to ICD-10-CM, CPT, and E/M guidelines.

You will communicate findings and help drive corrective actions across stakeholders. Required credentials include CPC/CCS/COC with 5+ years in outpatient coding and audit experience.

Qualifications

• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Outpatient Coder (COC)
• 5+ years of Outpatient Facility coding experience incl. NCCI/OCE edits, ICD-10-CM and CPT
• 5+ years of Outpatient Facility audit experience incl. surgery, observation, ED with Medicare knowledge

Responsibilities

• Perform coding compliance and quality audits for outpatient services
• Interpret clinical documentation from medical records
• Validate outpatient facility coding including E/M services, procedures, modifiers
• Identify findings, calculate error rates, perform root cause analysis
• Document audit findings and communicate results to stakeholders
• Prepare audit analyses and reports on risk and corrective actions
• Monitor industry/regulatory changes and educate on impacts
