Job summary

Henry Ford Health is seeking an Outpatient Professional Coder for a fully remote role. You will review patient records to code diagnoses and procedures, abstract data to support research and decisions, and ensure adherence to coding guidelines and reimbursement policies.

Responsibilities include optimizing reimbursement, ensuring accuracy, and maintaining continuity of care through precise coding practices. A relevant coding certification is required, with RHIT or CPC-CDS credentials preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), RHIT Certification eligibility, or CPC, CPC-A, CCS, CCP, or CCA certification.
• Thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, disease processes, medical terminology, pharmacology, and coding systems.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze patient medical records to accurately code diagnostic and procedural information.
• Abstract relevant data from medical records to support research, patient care evaluation, and administrative decisions.
• Ensure compliance with coding guidelines, third-party reimbursement policies, and accreditation standards.
• Optimize reimbursement by applying established coding principles and procedures.
• Promote provider/patient continuity through precise and timely coding practices.
