Job summary

Sigma Technologies is seeking an OSP Field Designer to blend field data collection with design work for telecommunications projects. The role supports Little Rock, AR, and surrounding areas, with travel to additional project locations as needed.

Remote work is possible when not performing field data collection, and local fieldwork is regularly required. The ideal candidate has 2+ years in outside plant fiber design or related OSP design, proficiency with AutoCAD, and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree or higher in engineering, drafting, GIS, telecommunications, or related field preferred but not required.
• 2+ years of demonstrated outside plant fiber design or related OSP design experience.
• Experience with field data collection to support OSP fiber design.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar CAD tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform outside plant field walkouts, site surveys, and route verification to collect accurate infrastructure, attachment, pathway, and construction data.
• Identify, inspect, and document poles, attachments, equipment, structures, and existing infrastructure and constraints.
• Capture photos, measurements, GPS data, field notes, and other documentation for drafting and design deliverables.
• Map collected field data and translate conditions into design inputs and construction-ready packages.
• Execute OSP fiber designs for projects, including FTTx, aerial, underground, joint-use, and general OSP design.
• Perform 2-D civil drafting and design using CAD tools such as AutoCAD or similar platforms.
• Interpret field notes, maps, schematics, and standards to complete accurate designs.
• Apply knowledge of OSP standards and construction practices to resolve design issues and propose practical solutions.
• Consider pole ownership, right-of-way, easements, permitting, and other project requirements as needed.
• Prepare or support joint-use applications, route analysis, and related project documentation.
• Use GIS tools, CAD systems, and other software to support work orders and design processes.
• Collaborate with supervisors, project managers, designers, field staff, and quality teams to complete work.
• Support initial fieldwork areas in and around Little Rock, AR, with travel as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
