Job summary

Sigma Technologies is seeking an OSP Field Designer to support telecommunications projects through field data collection, route verification, drafting, and design. Remote with regular fieldwork in Little Rock, AR, and surrounding areas, with 50%-75% travel, and occasional overnight trips.

The role requires CAD proficiency (AutoCAD), field data collection experience, and ability to translate conditions into design deliverables.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associate degree or higher preferred in engineering, drafting, GIS, telecommunications, construction management, or related field.
• 2+ years of OSP fiber design, fiber drafting, telecom design, or related OSP design experience.
• Experience with field data collection, field walkouts, or field verification for OSP fiber design work.
• Experience with FTTx, aerial and underground fiber, joint-use, and fiber route design preferred.
• Proficiency with CAD programs such as AutoCAD or similar CAD tools.
• Ability to read engineering schematics, maps, field notes, construction drawings, and design standards.
• Knowledge of telecom construction practices and design deliverable standards.
• Ability to learn customer-based proprietary software, GIS tools, and related systems.
• Strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and ability to translate field conditions into design deliverables.
• Ability to work independently in the field and remotely with quality, time, and budget goals.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform outside plant field walkouts, site surveys, and route verification to collect data.
• Identify and document poles, attachments, equipment, structures, and route constraints.
• Capture photos, measurements, GPS data, field notes, and documentation for design packages.
• Map collected field data and translate field conditions into design inputs.
• Execute OSP fiber designs for FTTx, aerial, underground, joint-use projects.
• Perform 2-D drafting and design using AutoCAD or similar CAD tools.
• Interpret field notes, maps, schematics, and customer standards to complete designs.
• Apply OSP design standards to resolve issues and propose practical solutions.
• Consider pole ownership, ROW, easements, permitting constraints, and ownership.
• Prepare or support joint-use applications, route analysis, and work orders.
• Use GIS tools and CAD systems to support work orders and design process.
• Collaborate with supervisors, PMs, designers, field staff, and QA teams.
• Support initial fieldwork areas in and around Little Rock, AR, with willingness to travel.
