Job summary

A telecommunications solutions company is seeking an Optical Transport Engineer to lead remote testing and provisioning of optical networks. The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of experience in Optical Transport Engineering and proficiency with Ciena platforms. Responsibilities include directing field technicians, validating engineering requirements, and ensuring traffic readiness. The role requires effective communication and coordination skills, along with technical direction under time constraints.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in Optical Transport Engineering, Field Testing, or Remote Provisioning roles.
• Experience supporting Backbone, Metro, or Long‑Haul optical builds.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot remotely and coordinate effectively with field resources.

Responsibilities

• Lead remote turn-up, test, and provisioning of optical network elements.
• Direct field technicians for optical testing procedures.
• Validate and document Engineering Design Package and Method of Procedure requirements.

Skills

Strong knowledge of Ciena RLS platforms

Experience with DWDM, ROADM, and coherent optical technologies

Hands‑on proficiency with remote testing tools

Familiarity with optical provisioning and management systems

Working knowledge of optical span design

Understanding of fiber infrastructure and construction fundamentals

Competency with MOP/EDP creation and validation

Basic IP networking and transport knowledge
