UB Associates, Inc. is seeking a Remote Ophthalmic Medical Coder to join our healthcare team.

This full-time, remote role focuses on accurate coding of diagnostic, procedural, and surgical information to support proper reimbursement from Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurers. As a Coding Specialist, you will evaluate documentation, resolve denials, support education, and ensure coding standards in a fast-paced telework environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• CCS, CCS-P, or CPC certification required.
• Associate’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of coding experience using ICD-10 or equivalent.
• Ophthalmology experience preferred but not required.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Commitment to ongoing education to maintain certification.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Accurately code charges from provider encounter forms and operative reports using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes.
• Enter charges from all sites in the CGM billing system and verify EMR data.
• Evaluate provider documentation to ensure correct diagnoses, procedures, and E/M levels are assigned.
• Review coding denials and submit appeals as needed.
• Assist with resolving reimbursement issues related to coding accuracy.
• Provide feedback to physicians and support coding education for staff and residents.
• Answer patient and insurance inquiries as needed.
• Participate in meetings, committees, and process improvement initiatives.
