Job summary

Mercor is hiring board-certified ophthalmologists to evaluate health AI models in partnership with a leading AI lab. You will read de-identified patient charts and judge AI answers to clinical questions in ophthalmology.

Key responsibilities include evaluating AI responses for accuracy, verifying against patient charts, and writing rationales on rigor and clarity. Active US medical license and board certification in ABO Ophthalmology are required; remote, part-time hours offered.

Qualifications

• MD/DO degree from an accredited medical school.
• Active, unrestricted US medical license.
• Residency completed; fellowship where required.
• Board certification in ABO Ophthalmology via ABMS or AOA if stated (implied by requirements).
• Currently practicing in the US with at least 1 year of independent practice after training.
• 3+ years of post-training experience preferred.
• Clear written communication and close attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate AI answers to ophthalmology questions for clinical accuracy, safety and alignment with current standards of care.
• Check each answer against patient charts and decide which of two responses is stronger.
• Write structured rationales on clinical rigor, completeness and clarity.
• Flag errors that could compromise patient safety.
