Job summary

RAND Corporation is seeking an Open Source Research Resident to investigate and monitor threats at the intersection of AI, biosecurity, and national security. You will build a picture of actors, capabilities, and trends from open sources and produce decision-ready assessments for government and industry partners.

Ideal candidates bring rigorous OSS analysis experience, familiarity with national security topics, and a track record of working across multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Excellent analytic skills and ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team and uphold RAND's values.
• Hands-on operator mindset with end-to-end investigations and robust source evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Run investigations across open and commercial sources to build a picture of actors, capabilities and trends.
• Monitor developments in AI, biosecurity and related technologies relevant to national security.
• Produce clear, decision-ready assessments for internal teams and external partners.
• Map organizations and talent networks across the US and China to support analyses.
