Job summary

RAND Corporation is seeking an Open Source Research Resident to monitor threats at the intersection of AI, biosecurity, and national security. You will build a picture of actors, capabilities, and trends, turning open-source signals into actionable intelligence for internal teams and external partners.

Day-to-day work includes investigating across sources, tracking developments in AI and biology, mapping organizations and talent flows, and delivering clear assessments.

Qualifications

• Excellent analytic skills and ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Track record of rigorous open-source analysis in fast-paced environments.
• Experience spanning national security, technology, and foreign-actor tracking.
• Operator mindset, owning investigations end-to-end.
