Qualifications

• 2–3+ years of medical insurance authorization or precertification experience.
• Oncology, chemotherapy, or radiation oncology authorization experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of insurance plans, payer guidelines, and medical necessity requirements.
• Experience researching authorization denials and reimbursement issues.
• Comfortable communicating with insurance carriers and clinical staff.
• Ability to manage high-priority authorizations and meet strict deadlines.
• Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable working independently in a remote environment.

Responsibilities

• Obtain insurance authorizations and pre-certifications for chemotherapy and oncology treatments.
• Review medical necessity documentation and payer requirements.
• Monitor pending authorizations and follow up within 24 hours.
• Manage authorization queues for upcoming appointments, working at least one week ahead.
• Research denied or rejected authorization requests and determine appropriate next steps.
• Communicate coverage restrictions, payer requirements, and authorization updates to clinical teams.
• Identify alternative funding resources for treatments not covered by insurance.
• Assist patients with insurance and reimbursement-related questions.
• Maintain accurate documentation and authorization records.
• Stay current on insurance guidelines, medical policies, and oncology authorization requirements.
• Participate in team meetings and ongoing workflow discussions.
