Job summary

Kampgrounds of America, Inc. seeks an experienced Corporate Counsel to join its Legal Department. You will advise leadership on business transactions, regulatory compliance, litigation, risk management, franchise support, and organizational matters.

The role offers remote work with occasional travel to KOA locations and events. Reporting to the General Counsel, the position requires a JD, active bar license, and 5+ years of legal experience.

Qualifications

• J.D. degree from an accredited law school.
• Active bar license (Montana preferred).
• Minimum 5 years of legal experience (in-house or law firm).
• Location in Billings, Montana or Remote.
• Demonstrated expertise in contract review and negotiation.
• Strong background in litigation management or litigation support.
• Experience with insurance management and claims handling.
• Substantive employment law experience.
• General knowledge of corporate law matters and business operations.
• Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Contract management: review, draft, negotiate and manage a wide range of contracts.
• Litigation support: coordinate with outside counsel and assist with discovery.
• Compliance & risk mitigation: ensure compliance with laws and manage risk.
• Intellectual Property: assist with trademarks, copyrights, and patents.
• Insurance management: oversee programs, claims, and policy reviews.
• Employment & HR: counsel on employment matters, policies and training.
• Corporate governance & licensing: support governance and liquor licensing.
• Franchise operations: advise on franchise related matters and compliance.
• Legal research & analysis: provide written and oral legal opinions.

Education

Juris Doctor (J.D.)

Montana bar license preferred
