Job summary

Ocean Associates, Inc. is seeking a full-time Oceanographic Data Specialist 1 to support CO-OPS in Silver Spring, MD.

This role involves remote work within the United States, handling metadata, data verification, and data loading tasks with a strong emphasis on quality control. Applicants should have a Master’s in oceanography or a related field (or a bachelor’s with 2 years experience) and proficiency in MATLAB, GIS, and SQL.

Qualifications

• Master's in oceanography or related field; or a bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of experience.
• Experience with MATLAB, GIS, SQL preferred.
• Strong communication and ability to work independently and in a team.
• Ability to work remotely and manage data with quality control.

Responsibilities

• Review, enter, and verify metadata and data per CO-OPS SOPs for water level stations, meters, and sensors.
• Review quality of bench marks, leveling records, and other data from field personnel; enter into database.
• Evaluate submitted documentation and data and provide written feedback.
• Load preliminary water level and current meter data into the database.
• Develop, update, and maintain SOPs, manuals, and technical documentation.
