Job summary

Farmers Insurance in New York City is seeking an Insurance Defense Attorney to join the NY PIP staff counsel team. The attorney will represent clients in NY PIP defense matters, handling primarily low complexity cases, from intake to resolution, with appearances and trials as required either remotely or in-person.

The role offers a comprehensive benefits package, bonus potential up to 15% of salary, 401(k), medical/dental/vision, paid parental leave, and other benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred; Licensed to practice Law in applicable states required upon hire.
• Civil litigation and/or personal/bodily injury experience preferred.
• Public speaking, ability to function in adversarial or confrontational situations, driving.
• Strong verbal and written communication, negotiation, and judgment skills.

Responsibilities

• Litigates low complexity and exposure cases from intake to trial and/or settlement, including pleadings, motions, discovery, and briefs.
• Attends hearings, conferences, interviews, mediations, arbitrations, and/or trials.
• Informs leadership of case handling opportunities and challenges encountered.
• Consults with Claims on the legal aspects of files and supports senior attorneys on more complex matters.
