Job summary
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Health Service Regulation, is seeking a Nurse Consultant I (NS) to perform on-site inspections of adult care facilities to ensure licensure compliance. The role is home-based in the eastern region with statewide travel.
Applicants must be a licensed Registered Nurse in North Carolina with at least one year of relevant experience, and possess strong communication skills. Travel and occasional overnight stays are required.
Qualifications
- Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina.
- Requires one year of experience in the area of specialization.
- Knowledge of current nursing practice, assessment, and care planning.
- Experience with state or federal surveys, compliance audits, or accreditation surveys.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to travel statewide.
Responsibilities
- Analyze survey findings and document compliance in a legally defensible manner.
- Provide technical assistance to facilities and potential providers.
- Provide regulatory oversight and technical assistance to county DSS staff.
- Communicate clearly with facilities, staff and the public.
