Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a Nurse Consultant I (NS) to perform regulatory inspections of nursing homes to ensure compliance with federal and state requirements. The role conducts routine surveys and complaint investigations, documents findings, and prepares reports such as statements of deficiency and complaint allegation summaries.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina.
• Experience performing regulatory nursing home inspections and surveys.
• Ability to prepare clear, accurate survey documentation and reports.

Responsibilities

• Survey nursing homes during routine inspections for regulatory compliance.
• Conduct complaint investigations and evaluate findings.
• Prepare statements of deficiency and complaint reports meeting federal standards.
• Perform onsite inspections about three days per week in the region.
• Travel to facilities >60 miles away with potential overnight stays.
• Participate in federal training and pass SMQT after training.
