Job summary

UVA Health is seeking a Clinical Documentation Specialist to combine nursing expertise with analytical rigor, shaping how patient care is captured and valued across the health system. This remote role emphasizes integrity, accuracy, and complete clinical storytelling.

You will review inpatient records, query physicians, and educate teams to improve documentation quality, with a flexible 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM EST window and a caseload of 15+ new cases daily.

Qualifications

• RN with Virginia license and BSN within 5 years.
• Minimum three years as Clinical Documentation Specialist.
• Experience in ICU and acute care settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review inpatient records for accuracy, completeness and compliance.
• Identify documentation gaps and opportunities for clarification.
• Issue physician queries to resolve unclear or incomplete documentation.
• Partner with physicians, coding, quality teams, and service lines.
• Educate providers to strengthen documentation practices.
• Manage a caseload of 15+ new cases per day.
