Job summary

LanguageLine Solutions LLC seeks a Nupe Interpreter to provide remote, on-demand interpretation for diverse clients across healthcare, government, finance and more. You will work from a home office handling Nupe-English calls with strict confidentiality and high accuracy requirements.

The role emphasizes cultural sensitivity, neutral reporting, and effective communication under potentially stressful conditions.

Qualifications

• Fluency in Nupe and English and skilled in the associated cultural dynamics.
• Ability to provide cultural competency and assess regional and accent differences to communicate with LEP.
• Excellent listening, retention and note-taking skills to maintain accuracy during interpretation.
• Stay neutral and objective on calls, including sensitive topics such as end of life conversations, pregnancy termination, vaccinations, and gender expression.

Responsibilities

• Respond to interpreting sessions promptly and conduct interpretation professionally.
• Render correct concepts and meanings according to interpretation protocol.
• Speak clearly in both languages with proper pronunciation and polite expressions.
• Maintain professionalism and calm on all sessions, including emergency calls.
• Remain punctual and available during work hours.
• Follow client instructions to meet expectations while protecting LEP access.
• Understand terminology across Medical, Insurance, Finance and Law.
• Demonstrate commitment to cultural sensitivity in a diverse environment.
• Handle calls that may be emotional or stressful and may require extended sessions.
