Job summary

EMD Electronics is seeking a New Product Development Designer (NPD) to design, develop and deliver complex mechanical systems. You will collaborate with engineers and product management to refine concepts and validate robust solutions, filling gaps in specifications to enable downstream product development.

The role emphasizes data-driven decisions, cross-functional influence, and a path from concept to manufacturing. Domestic remote work with occasional travel is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or closely related field
• 5+ years of mechanical design experience
• Proficiency with SolidWorks 3D/2D design

Responsibilities

• Participate in development and conceptualization of new product designs, creating basic drawing concepts for reviews
• Translate customer and engineering requirements into manufacturable mechanical solutions
• Work with vendors to address design issues and optimize for manufacturability
• Partner with electrical and controls engineers for system integration
• Maintain and manage design documentation and revision control
• Deliver project design artifacts per the stage-gate process
• Facilitate transition of new products into manufacturing environment
