Qualifications

5+ years of journalism experience at a reputable news organization.
3+ years editing regional or national daily coverage across audio and digital.
Proven track record editing breaking news under tight deadlines with journalistic integrity.
Experience editing enterprise, investigative, or feature journalism from pitch to final production.
Sound judgment rooted in fact-checking, balance, fairness, and ethics.
Track record building collaborative partnerships with reporters, freelancers, or station partners.
Experience editing for both audio and digital writing.
Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.

Responsibilities

Network Editorial Coordination: Communicate with journalists and editors across Northeast hubs and stations to plan coverage with national resonance.
Content Editing & Quality Assurance: Edit, fact-check, and supervise multiplatform material for fairness, accuracy, and quality.
Breaking News Leadership: Coordinate rapid-response coverage, directing updates for national shows and platforms.
S how & Platform Integration: Maintain communication with NPR news magazines, podcasts, and the digital desk about story length and scheduling.
Coverage Planning & Horizon Scanning: Track evolving regional news cycles and trends across the Northeast.
Editorial Mentorship & Training: Conduct workshops and feedback to strengthen partner reporting and workflows.
Inclusive Sourcing & Story Development: Expand diverse regional sources and perspectives.
Desk Administration & Contributor Management: Manage freelancer agreements, commissions, and payments.
Network Collaboration: Improve pipelines and reduce silos with Network Desk leadership.
