Job summary

Machinify, a healthcare analytics leader, is hiring a Data Scientist focused on natural language processing to turn unstructured text into product features and business insights. You’ll own problems end-to-end from framing to shipping, collaborating with engineering and product to deliver value.

You’ll design and train NLP models, fine-tune LLMs, and build robust evaluation and production pipelines. A strong NLP background and Python proficiency are required, with remote work options across the

Qualifications

• 3+ years of applied ML experience with NLP focus
• Strong Python and NLP stack proficiency (PyTorch/JAX, Transformers, spaCy)
• Experience fine-tuning transformer models and building production RAG systems
• Solid evaluation know-how (BLEU/ROUGE/BERTScore vs. LLM-as-judge)
• SQL and vector databases knowledge; one major cloud (AWS/GCP/Azure)
• Clear written and verbal communication; defend modeling choices

Responsibilities

• Design and train NLP models for classification, extraction, retrieval, summarization, and semantic search
• Fine-tune LLMs and build RAG pipelines and agentic workflows
• Create robust evaluation harnesses including offline metrics, human-in-the-loop, and A/B tests
• Collaborate with ML engineers to productionize models (latency, cost, monitoring)
• Translate ambiguous product questions into well-scoped ML problems and justify tradeoffs
