Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field.
• 3–5 years newsroom experience in reporting or editing.
• Experience in both print and digital media preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and manage daily and weekly news coverage for print and online platforms.
• Assign stories to reporters and freelancers with clear guidance on angles, sourcing, and deadlines.
• Edit articles for accuracy, clarity, grammar, AP Style, and ethical standards.
• Lead and oversee breaking news coverage for digital audiences.
• Collaborate with photography, design, and digital teams to enhance storytelling.
• Track newsroom progress toward publication deadlines and manage the news budget.
• Mentor reporters with constructive feedback to develop writing skills.
• Participate in editorial planning and long-range storytelling initiatives.
• Maintain strong community awareness to support local news coverage.
• Ensure all published content meets legal, ethical, and professional journalism standards.
