Job summary

AE Business Solutions in Madison, WI seeks a Network Security Engineer for a fully remote contract role. You will own day‑to‑day network and security operations across Palo Alto and Cisco platforms, with a focus on firewall and remote access services.

This is a 40-hour week engagement for 6+ months, with opportunities to extend. You will work with a Principal Solution Architect on complex designs and provide hands‑on engineering and documentation support for security projects.

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years hands-on with PA NGFWs in production.
• Strong experience with Panorama and/or Strata Cloud Manager (device groups, templates, shared objects).
• Experience designing and operating segmentation policies, NAT, decryption, logging, and troubleshooting (CLI, packet captures, log interpretation).

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day network and security operations across perimeters and remote access.
• Triage and remediate incidents related to firewalls, VPNs, and security services.
• Coordinate with vendors (Palo Alto, Cisco) to drive cases to resolution.
• Provide weekly status updates on activities, risks, and planned work.
• Assist with project design, migration plans, and rollback strategies.
• Transfer knowledge through ad-hoc training and documentation.
