Job summary

Senior Network Security Engineer at Eliassen Group is a remote, contract-to-hire role focused on securing a global network. You will work with Palo Alto platforms, VPN, Zero Trust, and cloud connectivity across data centers, offices, and remote sites.

You will own complex initiatives, mentor engineers, and collaborate with Cloud and Cybersecurity teams while driving automation with Terraform, Ansible, Python, or Bash. W2 consultants receive medical, dental, vision, and 401k benefits.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in engineering and supporting network security in complex production environments.
• Advanced hands-on with Palo Alto Networks technologies, including PAN-OS and Panorama.
• Strong knowledge of firewall policy, segmentation, NAT, VPN, threat prevention, routing, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Juniper Junos, Cisco NX-OS, or Arista EOS in enterprise networks.
• Automation experience with Terraform, Ansible, Python, or Bash.
• Ability to own complex initiatives and troubleshoot high-impact network security issues.
• Strong documentation and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Preferred: GlobalProtect, Prisma Access, Cloud NGFW, SASE, or Zero Trust tech.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain secure network architectures across data centers, offices, remote sites, and cloud environments.
• Administer and optimize PAN-OS, Panorama, and other Palo Alto technologies.
• Engineer and maintain firewall policy, NAT, VPN, and Zero Trust connectivity.
• Administer Network Access Control technologies and enterprise authentication controls.
• Analyze traffic and logs, support vulnerability remediation, and assist in incident response.
• Perform firewall upgrades, security hardening, and lifecycle maintenance.
• Support routing, switching, WAN, and wireless across data centers and global sites.
• Provide advanced troubleshooting for network and security issues.
• Support secure hybrid connectivity with Azure and AWS.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and cloud teams on security requirements.
• Coordinate with vendors for escalations and issues.
• Automate repeatable tasks using Terraform, Ansible, Python, or Bash.
• Develop standards, diagrams, runbooks, and documentation.
• Provide Tier 3 escalation support for outages and incidents.
• Mentor engineers and share security practices.
• Participate in on-call rotations and maintenance windows.
