Job summary

System One is seeking a Network Automation Engineer in Cary, NC, for a contract role with remote Eastern time schedule. You will develop Python applications, manage Linux web services, and contribute to automation tooling across client projects.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in engineering, strong Python, REST APIs, and experience with Ansible, Terraform, NetBox and Netmiko. You will document work, present to stakeholders, and mentor teammates while ensuring quality and compliance.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant engineering experience in client-facing or project-driven settings.
• Expertise in a technical area with guidance from senior leadership.
• Experience with network automation scripting and tooling (Ansible, Terraform, NetBox).
• Proficiency in Python, REST APIs, JSON/YAML, and Linux command line.
• Ability to create technical documents and deliver client presentations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Python apps that connect to network devices and collect data.
• Host web apps on Linux servers and ensure uptime.
• Document automation tooling and best practices for internal use.
• Support projects as a mid-to-senior team member with leadership guidance.
• Lead project areas and mentor junior members.
• Escalate issues to Delivery Directors as needed.
• Provide client briefings and technical written content.
• Align work with client requirements and project forecasts.
