Job summary

Segal McCambridge, a nationally recognized litigation firm, seeks an Associate Attorney with 2+ years in asbestos defense or toxic tort to join its national asbestos defense team. As part of the team, you will support national coordinating counsel while handling local matters, participate in discovery, depositions, and trial preparation, and collaborate with clients and insurers.

This role offers flexible work arrangement across the U.S.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active license in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 2+ years of experience in asbestos defense, toxic tort defense, or related complex litigation.
• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
• Experience with discovery, motion practice, depositions, and litigation strategy.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage priorities across matters and jurisdictions.

Responsibilities

• National and Local Counsel Support: assist with day-to-day local matters while supporting national coordinating counsel.
• Litigation Strategy: evaluate claims, analyze exposure and causation issues, develop defense strategies.
• Motion Practice and Discovery: draft pleadings, discovery, motions, and briefs; manage discovery.
• Depositions and Hearings: prepare for and conduct depositions, attend conferences and hearings.
• Trial Preparation: work with national and local counsel on trial strategy and witness prep.
• Client Collaboration: communicate with clients, insurers, co-counsel, and opposing counsel.
