Job summary

AmeriSave Mortgage Corporation is seeking an experienced Mortgage Underwriter to join our remote team and help shape borrower outcomes nationwide.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years of frontline underwriting experience, strong knowledge of FNMA/FHLMC/FHA/VA guidelines, and proficiency with LOS/AUS platforms (Encompass, DU, LPA). You will evaluate loans, issue decisions, and collaborate with Loan Officers to ensure timely closings.

Qualifications

5+ years frontline mortgage underwriting experience.
DE and/or SAR certifications preferred.
Deep knowledge of FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, and Jumbo guidelines.
Proficiency in LOS/AUS platforms (Encompass, DU, LPA).
Strong analytical, credit, and risk assessment skills.

Responsibilities

Evaluate and underwrite mortgage loans per guidelines.
Review credit, income, assets, tax returns, appraisals, title, insurance, fraud tools — and deliver clear, accurate credit decisions.
Document precise income and asset calculations and articulate well‑supported approval rationale.
Issue conditions and final decisions within established SLAs.
Review and clear conditions with accuracy and urgency.
Support pre‑funding audits, investor audits, and review‑desk inquiries.
Partner with Loan Officers, Processors, and Closers to ensure smooth, timely closings.
Stay current on guideline updates, regulatory changes, and industry best practices.
Contribute to QC reviews and continuous improvement across the department.
