Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Senior Mortgage Underwriter to remotely assess Conventional, FHA, and VA loan files and make timely decisions with accuracy. You will collaborate with branches, evaluate outcomes via automated underwriting, and present files to a loan committee.

With at least five years in mortgage underwriting, you will ensure proper documentation and help maintain smooth operations, while leveraging Excel and Encompass to manage data and workflows.

Qualifications

• Active FHA Direct Endorsement (DE) and VA SAR/LAPP underwriting approval.
• Minimum 5 years of mortgage underwriting experience.
• Strong customer service mindset with a collaborative approach.
• Proven ability to work cross-functionally with mortgage and lending partners.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills.
• Comfort working in Microsoft Excel for data organization and analysis.
• Experience with Encompass preferred (not required).

Responsibilities

• Underwrite Conventional, FHA, and VA loans in line with investor and agency guidelines.
• Submit files through automated underwriting systems and evaluate results.
• Approve or pend loans and present qualifying files to loan committee.
• Serve as a trusted underwriting resource for branch partners, assisting with scenarios and questions.
• Maintain a consistent 24-48 hour turnaround on new submissions and resubmissions.
• Ensure accurate loan documentation and proper file maintenance.
• Utilize office systems and tools to support underwriting operations.

Salary: $95,000 - $110,000 per year

As a Senior Mortgage Underwriter, you’ll play a critical role in turning homeownership dreams into reality. This role is primarily remote, with occasional onsite meetings as needed.
