Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Senior Mortgage Underwriter to assess Conventional, FHA, and VA loan files, delivering timely decisions that support our customers' homeownership goals. This role combines remote work with occasional onsite meetings and close collaboration with branch partners.

The ideal candidate will hold FHA DE and VA approvals, have at least 5 years of underwriting experience, excellent attention to detail, and strong Excel skills, with a proven ability to communicate clearly with lenders

Qualifications

• Active FHA Direct Endorsement (DE) and VA SAR/LAPP underwriting approval.
• Minimum 5 years of mortgage underwriting experience.
• Strong customer service mindset with a collaborative, solution-oriented approach.
• Proven ability to work cross-functionally with mortgage and lending partners.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills.
• Experience with Encompass preferred (not required).

Responsibilities

• Underwrite Conventional, FHA, and VA loans in accordance with investor and agency guidelines.
• Submit files through automated underwriting systems and evaluate results.
• Approve or pend loans and present qualifying files to loan committee.
• Serve as a trusted underwriting resource for branch partners, assisting with scenarios, questions, and complex files.
• Maintain a consistent 24-48 hour turnaround on new submissions and resubmissions.
• Ensure accurate loan documentation and proper file maintenance.
• Utilize office systems and tools to support efficient underwriting operations.

Salary: $95,000 - $110,000 per year

As a Senior Mortgage Underwriter, you’ll play a critical role in turning homeownership dreams into reality. This role is primarily remote, with occasional onsite meetings as needed.
