Job summary

Nucs AI is a pioneering startup applying AI to oncology and medical imaging to improve cancer diagnostics and treatment planning. We seek a senior Machine Learning Scientist to deepen ML research in clinical oncology and translate methods into clinically meaningful tools.

You will collaborate with physicians, medical physicists, and engineers to develop robust, publishable methods, and contribute to regulatory and validation activities while shaping product capabilities.

Qualifications

• PhD in machine learning, computer vision, medical image analysis, biomedical engineering, or related field.
• Strong publication record in medical imaging/clinical ML venues.
• Experience structuring and executing research collaborations with academia and clinical institutions.
• Deep learning expertise for image analysis (CNNs, transformers, U-Nets).
• Strong Python programming skills; PyTorch preferred.
• Experience with medical imaging data (PET/CT, MRI).
• Strong biostatistics background: experimental design, survival analysis.

Responsibilities

• Develop novel ML/DL methods for medical image analysis, including segmentation, lesion detection, longitudinal tracking, treatment response prediction, and outcome modeling.
• Design experiments to evaluate new approaches against clinical baselines and state-of-the-art methods.
• Publish findings in top-tier venues and represent Nucs AI at conferences.
• Collaborate with clinicians and medical physicists to ground methods in clinical reality.
• Produce validated research outputs with documented performance benchmarks and handoff specs for production engineering.
• Contribute to clinical validation studies and regulatory submissions.
• Collaborate with external academic partners on joint studies.
• Support scientific diligence with pharma and clinical partners.
• Contribute to Nucs AI's scientific credibility in the field.
