Job summary

Motion Recruitment is seeking a Machine Learning Researcher / Engineer for a fully remote role with compensation up to $200,000, based on experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong mathematical foundation and enjoy evaluating diverse ML approaches while translating research into production-grade code.

You will explore ML research, feature engineering, optimization, and platform evolution, balancing exploration with concrete implementation and outcomes, in a collaborative, hands-on team.

Qualifications

• Strong mathematical foundation with practical ML/feature engineering/optimization
• Experience with PyTorch, JAX, or XGBoost
• Ability to evaluate multiple modeling approaches and select best solution
• Experience building organized, maintainable research codebases
• Strong problem-solving and willingness to learn new techniques
• Thoughtful use of AI-assisted development tools with awareness of limitations and code quality

Responsibilities

• Research, compare, and evaluate ML techniques to determine the best solution for each problem
• Apply statistics, linear algebra, optimization to modeling and feature engineering challenges
• Read research papers and transform promising ideas into experiments and implementations
• Develop and maintain structured, scalable research code
• Contribute to data pipelines and engineering infrastructure within a hands-on environment
• Utilize AI tools responsibly while maintaining ownership of technical decisions and code quality
