Job summary

D2B is seeking a skilled Machine Learning Engineer to design, build, and deploy production-grade ML solutions with a strong emphasis on computer vision. This remote role collaborates with engineering andAI teams to solve real-world construction challenges.

You will take ML models from concept through production, build scalable pipelines, and stay current with AI frameworks while working in a distributed, remote-first environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related discipline.
• 3+ years of commercial experience as a Machine Learning Engineer or AI Engineer.
• Proven experience building and deploying production machine learning systems.
• Strong experience developing computer vision models.
• End-to-end MLOps including data collection, labeling, training, evaluation, pipeline development, CI/CD automation, model versioning, monitoring and optimization.
• Experience working with LLMs, multimodal AI models, and generative AI technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy production-ready ML models with a focus on computer vision applications.
• Build AI capabilities that identify, track, and analyze construction progress from visual data.
• Research, prototype, and implement solutions using LLMs and multimodal AI models.
• Evaluate when to leverage commercial foundation models versus developing custom ML solutions.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable ML pipelines across data collection, labeling, training, evaluation, deployment and monitoring.
• Source, clean, curate, and prepare high-quality datasets for model training.
• Develop and maintain MLOps infrastructure, including versioning, CI/CD, deployment automation, and monitoring.
• Collaborate with Software Engineers, Product Managers, and AI specialists to integrate ML into production apps.
• Optimize model accuracy, inference performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Stay current with emerging ML techniques, AI frameworks, and industry best practices.
• Comfortable working remotely with distributed teams across New Zealand and Australia.
