Job summary

UST is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to design, build, and deploy ML models for our healthcare payer data—claims, clinical, provider, and Medicare Advantage data.

You will develop feature pipelines on Databricks, train and deploy models, and monitor them in production. Collaborate across teams to translate problems into ML solutions while maintaining security and compliance standards.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years hands-on ML engineering or applied data science lifecycle experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python and ML libraries (scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, MLflow).
• Experience building, training, and deploying models on Databricks (feature engineering, experiment tracking, model serving).
• Working knowledge of AWS for data/ML workloads.
• Solid data security basics and handling PHI/PII in regulated environments.
• Healthcare data familiarity is a plus but not required for strong ML candidates.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals: version control, testing, CI/CD, code reviews.
• Strong analytical and communication skills to explain model behavior to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and validate ML models for healthcare payer use cases.
• Develop feature engineering pipelines on Databricks and feature stores for training/inference.
• Train, tune, and evaluate models with proper experiment tracking and lifecycle management.
• Deploy models to production on Databricks with batch and real-time serving.
• Monitor models for performance and drift; implement retraining workflows.
• Ensure HIPAA/compliance-minded data handling in all stages.
• Collaborate with data engineers, product owners, and compliance stakeholders.
• Write clean, production-grade code and contribute to ML tooling and standards.
