Job summary

Whatnot is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to accelerate buyer growth by building ML personalization models for user retention and first-time buyer engagement. You will own end-to-end ML projects that influence acquisition, activation, and retention strategies across our platform.

The role emphasizes building scalable ML systems, collaborating with product and marketing teams, and delivering measurable business outcomes in a fast-moving, remote-enabled environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of industry experience building and deploying ML systems at scale.
• Led end-to-end ML projects with measurable business impact.
• Expertise in personalization, ranking, or user modeling.
• Proficient in Python, SQL, and ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, XGBoost).
• Strong communication and cross-functional leadership.
• Experience in E-commerce or Social products and growth domains preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and productionization of ML models powering user acquisition, activation, and retention.
• Own the full ML lifecycle: data pipelines, feature engineering, training, deployment, and online experimentation.
• Build feedback loops from postbacks, conversions, and revenue signals.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, data, and marketing to identify high-impact ML opportunities.
