Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Microsoft Information Protection (MIP) Engineer to design, implement, and maintain data protection controls across Microsoft 365. The role focuses on DLP, sensitivity labels, CUI classification, and compliance monitoring within large enterprise settings.

The ideal candidate has about five years of experience with Microsoft information protection technologies and will work remotely in the United States, with an emphasis on supporting federal compliance programs and EPA Public

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 9+ years of experience
• Experience implementing and supporting Microsoft Information Protection technologies
• Experience administering Microsoft Purview DLP, MIP, and sensitivity labels
• Knowledge of Microsoft 365 compliance and security solutions
• Experience supporting CUI or similar information classification programs
• Experience developing and maintaining data protection policies and controls
• Knowledge of Microsoft 365 security architecture and compliance capabilities
• Experience supporting security audits, regulatory assessments, or compliance programs
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and optimize Microsoft Purview DLP policies across Microsoft 365 services
• Develop and tune DLP controls to protect sensitive organizational data
• Assess Copilot security impacts and enhancements to DLP controls
• Support deployment of DLP controls for new business apps and platforms
• Perform policy testing, validation, and user acceptance activities
• Investigate DLP incidents and user requests
• Review DLP policies for effectiveness and compliance
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define DLP requirements
• Administer and enhance Microsoft Purview Information Protection and Sensitivity Label programs
• Develop labeling strategies and taxonomies for CUI and data classification
• Support automated and manual classification initiatives
• Integrate sensitivity labels with DLP policies and security tech
• Assist with SharePoint Online labeling implementations
• Evaluate Copilot security capabilities and AI information protection controls
• Develop strategies to restrict Copilot prompt access to sensitive data
• Assess AI risk and mitigation approaches
• Support AI deployment governance and metrics
