The role emphasizes agent education and strong collaboration with marketing to deliver exceptional service. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree (insurance or business) and at least three years in commercial underwriting; CPCU is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in insurance or business administration or equivalent.
• Three years of commercial lines underwriting experience.
• CPCU or similar designation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Selects, grows, and maintains a profitable book of business for assigned territory within underwriting authority.
• Underwrites complex accounts considering different operations, multiple lines, or special pricing requirements.
• Analyzes exposure, risk appetite, premium history, financial data, lines of business, and data to underwrite policies.
• Educates agents on EMC products, underwriting appetite, systems, and services.
• Visits agencies to discuss accounts and provide updates; communicates proactively with agents.
• Collaborates with marketing to ensure agents receive excellent customer experiences and EMC is chosen as insurer.
• Explains decisions to accept or reject risk to agents and supports agency planning and review processes.
