Computercraft is seeking a Metadata Analyst to support the National Library of Medicine at the NIH in Bethesda, Maryland. The role focuses on data analysis, programming, workflow automation, and systems integration within NLM’s Metadata Management Program.

You will develop Python scripts, automate metadata workflows, and work with MARC, XML, JSON, and CSV data across Alma and other sources. This full-time remote position requires strong analytics and ability to obtain Public Trust clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
• Four years of experience developing data-processing and workflow-automation solutions with Python.
• Experience with Python for retrieving, manipulating, transforming, validating, and analyzing structured data.
• Experience with REST APIs including authentication, requests/responses, pagination, error handling, and processing JSON/XML.
• Experience developing reliable automated processes with logging, validation, exception handling, and reporting.
• Experience processing structured and semi-structured data formats such as XML, JSON, and CSV.
• Experience analyzing and reconciling large or complex datasets from multiple sources.
• Experience with version control (Git) and maintaining reusable code.
• Strong analytical, programming, troubleshooting, communication, and technical documentation skills.
• Ability to obtain Public Trust clearance.

Responsabilités

• Develop Python scripts and reusable automated processes to improve metadata workflows and reduce manual repetition.
• Develop automated workflows that integrate with Ex Libris Alma, OCLC services, and other systems via APIs, batch processes, and file-based exchanges.
• Retrieve, process, transform, compare, and reconcile metadata across Alma, OCLC, and other sources.
• Develop scripts to manipulate MARC/MARCXML, XML, JSON, and CSV formats used in NLM metadata workflows.
• Develop automated validation, logging, exception handling, and reporting processes and analyze outputs to identify improvements.
• Support testing and implementation of new or modified automated workflows and document APIs, data mappings, and logic.
• Conduct technical analysis and prototyping to identify automation opportunities and recommend approaches.
