Job summary

Computercraft seeks a Metadata Analyst to support the National Library of Medicine in Bethesda, MD. You will perform data analysis, programming, workflow automation, and system integration for metadata workflows.

The role requires a bachelor’s in CS or related field and 4 years of Python data-processing experience, with strong API and data-structure skills. On-site role with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
• Four (4) years of experience developing data-processing and workflow-automation solutions with Python.
• Experience with Python for retrieving, manipulating, transforming, validating, and analyzing structured data.
• Experience with REST APIs including authentication, pagination, error handling, and JSON/XML.
• Experience building automated processes with logging, validation and exception handling.
• Experience processing XML, JSON, and CSV data formats.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, document, and maintain Python scripts to improve metadata workflows.
• Create automated workflows integrating with Ex Libris Alma, OCLC, and other systems via APIs and batch/file exchanges.
• Process large bibliographic/authority/ holdings metadata across multiple sources.
• Manipulate structured and semi-structured data (MARC/MARCXML, XML, JSON, CSV).
• Develop automated validation, logging, exception handling, and reporting.
• Assist testing and implementation of new automated workflows and map data procedures.
• Perform technical analysis and prototyping to identify more automation opportunities.
