Job summary

Cart.com is seeking a Merchant of Record Accountant to own MoR accounting operations across our brands in the United States. The role focuses on payment processing integrity, settlements, tax compliance, financial reconciliations, and strong internal controls.

You will partner with payments, finance, and operations to scale MoR activities, resolve exceptions, and support audits while maintaining rigorous financial discipline and compliance across multiple jurisdictions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent experience.
• 3–7 years in payments operations, merchant services, accounting, finance, or related field in ecommerce, SaaS, digital goods, marketplace, or tech-enabled services.
• Strong understanding of payment processing, settlements, merchant accounts, and financial controls.
• Hands-on experience preparing reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close support.

Responsibilities

• Own the accounting and operational oversight of Merchant of Record activities across supported brands.
• Monitor and resolve urgent payment exceptions, including settlement failures, payment holds, chargebacks, and significant refunds.
• Maintain rigorous transaction-level review processes to minimize errors, prevent revenue leakage, and ensure financial accuracy.
• Serve as the primary liaison for payment processing, settlements, reconciliations, tax compliance, and financial reporting related to MoR operations.
