Job summary

Lehigh Valley Health Network seeks a multilingual interpreter to enable clear communication between LEP patients and hospital staff. You will facilitate cross-cultural conversations and ensure accurate interpretation across clinical encounters.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1 year experience in human or health services.
• Adhere to interpreter standards of practice and code of ethics.
• Ability to interpret and translate daily, including stressful situations.
• BTG - Bridging the Gap - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides accurate interpretation between LEP patients and hospital personnel.
• Educates individuals and staff on culturally specific values, beliefs, and practices relevant to encounters.
• Acts as a conduit of information for clinical services including medical terminology and support services to LEP patients.
• Informs LEP patients about the interpreter’s role and capabilities.
• Serves as a cultural mediator to enhance communication between patients and clinicians.
• Explains hospital resources, office protocols, and limitations to clinicians and patients; makes referrals.
