UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Medical Director to provide physician support for Enterprise Clinical Services, overseeing pre-service benefit determinations and clinical reviews. The role emphasizes evidence-based practice, collaboration with network and non-network providers, and leading clinical discussions.

The position offers remote work from anywhere in the U.S. (West Coast) with a strong focus on cost-effective, high-quality care and cross-functional collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree required.
• Board certification in General Surgery through ABMS or AOA with vascular surgery experience.
• Active unrestricted medical license.
• 5+ years of clinical practice after residency.
• Strong understanding of Evidence Based Medicine (EBM).
• Experience performing vascular surgeries and procedures.
• Proficient with MS Word, Outlook and Excel.
• Willingness to participate in call coverage rotation.

Responsibilities

• Render coverage determinations based on plan benefits and review policies.
• Document findings and outcomes per policies and regulations.
• Engage with providers in peer-to-peer discussions.
• Interpret benefit language during clinical coverage reviews.
• Participate in daily clinical rounds as requested.
• Collaborate with network and non-network providers to finalize determinations.
• Coordinate with internal partners.
• Handle call coverage rotation.
