Job summary

UnitedHealth Group seeks a Medical Director in Vascular Surgery for a remote West Coast role. You will support Enterprise Clinical Services with clinical coverage reviews and medical decision-making, collaborating across networks to ensure cost-effective, high-quality care.

Required MD/DO with vascular surgery experience, board certification, and 5+ years of post-residency practice, plus strong EBMed and MS Office skills. Remote work from anywhere on the West Coast is available.

Qualifications

• MD or DO required.
• Board certification in General Surgery with vascular surgery experience.
• Active unrestricted medical license to practice medicine.
• 5+ years of clinical practice after residency.
• Solid understanding of Evidence Based Medicine (EBM).
• Experience performing vascular surgeries and procedures.
• MS Word, Outlook, and Excel proficiency.
• Ability to participate in call coverage rotation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct coverage reviews based on member plan benefits and policies; render coverage determinations.
• Document clinical review findings, actions, and outcomes per policies and regulatory requirements.
• Engage with requesting providers in peer-to-peer discussions.
• Interpret benefit language and policies during clinical reviews.
• Participate in daily clinical rounds as requested.
• Communicate with network and non-network providers to ensure timely benefit determinations.
• Collaborate with internal partners and participate in call coverage rotation.
