Job summary

UNM Medical Group, Inc. is recruiting for a Medical Coding Supervisor to lead the Coding Department in a remote, full-time role based in New Mexico.

The position allows work from home, with the option to come into the Albuquerque office for in-person needs, and requires NM residency or relocation. The supervisor will oversee the coding team, ensure compliance with federal/state/payor rules, monitor KPIs, and drive improvements in accuracy and revenue capture.

Qualifications

• Minimum education: high school diploma or GED.
• 1 year supervisory experience in a medical coding setting is required.
• Certification in CPC, CPC-P, CCS, CCS-P, RHIA, or RHIT is required or substitution rules apply.
• Salary is based on total years of relevant experience and 40-hour weeks.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the medical coding team.
• Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and payer regulations.
• Monitor KPIs and improve coding accuracy and efficiency.
• Provide ongoing staff training on coding policies and payer requirements.
• Collaborate with providers and departments to address denials and improve revenue cycle.
